How did two children from Timișoara get to camp? The kind gesture of a mother.

"I've never seen such generosity as at Yuppi Camp. We received so much love. Whenever we can help you with anything, just let us know," Diana Șpaiuc, a mother attending the camp, told us.

The Șpaiuc family has been to Yuppi Camp several times before. Their son, Lucas, signed up again this year, but in the end he wasn't able to make it. When his mother called our colleague Alexandra to give her the news, she told her to reach out if we ever needed help.

At the camp Lucas was supposed to attend, we had two siblings signed up for the first time, from the Banat region — the same area Lucas's family is from — but they had no way of getting to camp. Unfortunately, no matter how much we searched among our volunteers, we couldn't find anyone who could bring the two children.

📞 "So I called Diana to ask if she knew someone who could help us for a fee. The conversation with her was very short — Diana quickly found a solution: she has an acquaintance who works in ridesharing, so she would ask him to post in the drivers' groups. She told me we'd definitely find someone. Two hours later she called me: they'd found a driver, and she absolutely wanted to cover the cost of the ride for the two children. I insisted that we pay, since we have a budget set aside for that, but Diana told me: 'I'll gladly pay, and you can use the money for other needs — which will surely come up,'" Alexandra recounts.

We were deeply touched by Diana's gesture, just as we are every time we receive help, in any form, from a parent who has been to camp.

"These are the moments when we truly realize the impact our camps have on the participants. The fact that they stay close to us and want to help fills our hearts with gratitude," Alexandra says.
